Sweet Events in Dubai

People who own Dubai property and have a sweet tooth might be interested in an upcoming event. The exhibitions Sweets Middle East and Sweet & SnackTec Middle East are due to take place at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre between November 2nd and 4th.

In a recent study by the TNS Media Intelligence, the region is one of the top ten markets for confectionary products in the world and the industry is worth some $113 billion.

Sales of sweets are expected to increase by between 15 and 20 per cent over the next decade and senior vice-president of the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) Trixee Loh explained this “positive growth” will be even more visible at the upcoming events.

“We are seeing many brands investing to gain market share with many product innovations, new flavours and packaging ideas being launched at these shows,” she said.

The DWTC organises global events, aiming to create unique and high-class customer experiences.

Of further interest to people looking to invest in Dubai property is news that the winner of the International Young Design Entrepreneur Award 2009 resides in Dubai.

Rami Farook Rahimtulla is the founder and director of a 7,000 sq ft design store, gallery and studio in Al Barsha – called Traffic – which is used to host exhibits, lectures and screenings.

He has been recognised for his achievements with the accolade and asserted it was an “honour to represent the UAE on a global scale”, adding he looks forward to working with entrepreneurs, manufacturers and educators in the UK as part of his prize.

The competition was part of the British Council’s internal programme Young Creative Entrepreneur and country director Paul Sellers noted Mr Rahimtulla’s application was “extremely strong”.

“Rami’s … impressive networking skills promise great things to come for UAE-UK collaboration,” he asserted.

The British Council aims to build engagement for the UK through encouraging knowledge and ideas to be exchanged between people worldwide.

With many forthcoming events scheduled for October and November at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, expatriate British residents can expect a range of events catered to their taste.
